Keep your Google Business Profile menu link up to date

Choose your Google Business Profile menu link, compare it with the published menu and build a review routine for outdated menu and price photos.

3 minute read

Guests who find your restaurant on Maps may want to see the menu before taking a seat. The menu link in your business profile connects that research to your own current content. Adding it may seem like a one-time job, but product changes, old photographs and different branches require regular checks. A small plan for ownership and review makes the work sustainable.

Add the menu address to the correct field

Google's current help document explains that a business profile's menu URL can be managed through the contact information in profile editing. Separate editing options may also be available for menu items, prices and menu photos. The options shown can vary with the profile type and source used; refer to the official help page when checking the field available in your account.

Using the restaurant homepage as the link technically opens a page, but leaves guests searching for the menu again. Put the published menu address directly in the menu field. A management-panel preview address, a screen requiring a login or a PDF stored on your computer is not a suitable guest destination for this purpose.

Verify that the address represents the right business

Open the link on your phone before saving it. Are the restaurant name, branch name, currency and a few sample products correct? Copying the wrong menu address is particularly easy for agencies managing several business accounts. If the 'Central' and 'Seafront' branch menus look similar, checking only the logo is insufficient. Make a second check using a branch-specific product or price.

A permanent menu link reduces the need to repeatedly update the profile address when content changes. When you update a published menu on Orvunai, you can keep the same sharing link. However, if a migration actually changes the restaurant or menu address, include the profile link in your migration checklist too.

Remember menu displays beyond your link

Your link may not be the profile's only menu source. Google's help document describes business and customer menu photos, along with the option to select a preferred menu when several sources exist. Therefore, adding a current link does not mean old price photographs automatically change. Inspect the screen visitors see separately.

When managing older images you uploaded yourself, note each file's date and the menu version it represents. A reporting option for a guest-uploaded photo is not the same as permission to delete it directly. Your team should be able to explain where the current menu is and provide consistent information across sources the business controls.

Create a short maintenance record

Record the branch name, menu URL, last check date and responsible person in a table. Work through that record when prices or seasons change. Seeing a successful save in an administrator account does not by itself prove that visitors see the correct menu. Follow the link from the profile's public view and check a few current products. Record discrepancies across sources on separate rows to avoid confusing where each problem originated.

Write a specific example task: 'Open the menu from the Seafront branch's Google profile; compare the new lemonade's name and published price.' This is easier to delegate than a vague instruction such as 'Check Google'. Repeating the step after a seasonal menu release makes the link part of daily business routines instead of a forgotten setting.
